The term "cosplay" is the contraction of the words "costume" and "play", which describe the hobby of having fun dressing up as own favorite character and interpreting the way he acts. In 1984 the Japanese reporter Takahashi Nobuyuki coined this term to describe what he saw during his trip to America at "Worldcon" in Los Angeles. Since then, the cosplay has become increasingly popular in other countries. Today there are numerous fairs and events that attract fans of this phenomenon from all over the world.
